Baby Face Nelson

(Click on image to view full-size!)

Awesome, dynamic ad scanned from my copy of the Savannah Evening Press, published on Thursday, Dec. 12, 1957. It really grabs your attention; "It slams you in the guts with a bellyful of lead!" Gee, I hope not.

Below is an ad for a local drive-in from the same paper. You can almost smell the popcorn and pizza, can't you?

Although I can't say that "Made in Mississippi with an All-Southern Cast!" makes me want to view that movie to any greater degree.

1951's Rhubarb

This huge ad, a quarter of a page, was scanned from my copy of the Kankakee, Illinois Sun-Journal, dated Sunday, October 7, 1951. I don't know about the movie, but they don't make movie ads like this any more! More to come from this same newspaper soon.

And in case you come away from the ad curious about the meaning of the word, "aelurophobe," well, it would be more scrutable if it were the expected "felinephobe." Scat, cat!

Battle For The Planet Of The Apes

Clipped by my excited little 14 year old fingers from the Macon Telegraph in June of 1973. I was a latecomer to the whole Apes phenomenon, somehow missing all of it until this one came out. I quickly became a fan without even having seen any of the movies, as Ape-Mania was in full swing. The POTA magazine put out by Marvel the next year, coinciding with the new Apes TV show, became my monthly fix until I could catch them on TV whenever I was away from home.

Big Bad Mama

Clipped from the Macon Telegraph (GA) in September of 1974. Notable to me at the time due to the appearance of William Shatner in it, as you can tell by my circling of his name in the credits.
