Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country

(Click on images to view full-size!)

The last of the Original Series movies with the full cast. This was clipped from the Friday, Dec. 6th, 1991 edition of the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel. This movie premiered only one day before the first Trek movie did, Dec. 7th, back in 1979.

Below is an interesting Trek-themed ad for the sound system in one of the theaters showing the new movie.

  1. I was blessed to see all the original Star Trek films on the big screen, but only Star Trek 6 on opening night. It was a treat so see the final film with the original cast with an audience full of enthusiastic Star Trek fans. There was applause, cheering, a few tears, and i'm sure an overwhelming sense of relief that it was GOOD. I'm not the hugest NextGen fan but I've always felt a pang of empathy that the NextGen cast ended on a couple of down notes. I was sorry to see the original cast pass into history but I'm glad they were able to go out on a high.

  2. You're lucky you didn't have to stand in line for hours for ST2 with a trio of bickering friends, like I did. Two guys fighting over a girl the whole time, she just taking it all in. I just wanted to watch the flippin' movie, but the fight continued into the theatre. There was more "drama" in the seats around me than there was up on the screen!

TMP was and still is my favorite ST film, but the early theatrical prints were very, very dark. I went to several theatres hoping to really be able to *see* the film, but no luck. To this day, I don't know what that was all about.

ST6 was the last film I took my dad to see before he passed on. He liked it a lot.

  3. Hey. I love seeing the Trek 6 ad. I'm one of the contrarians that doesn't put Trek 2 waaaaay above all the others. Sometimes I'm hard pressed not to say Trek 6 is better... or even First Contact... both of which I love.

Speaking of Trek 6, a friend and I managed to attend the Star Trek 25th Anniversary screening of Treks 1-5 in Atlanta, where we were the first audience to see a real Trek 6 trailer (and not just the teaser). Even though the day kind of ended on a downbeat (Trek 5), still... good times were had. I still have the commemerative ticket, and t-shirt, emblazoned with the slogan "Sit Long And Prosper".

    Good times, indeed.

  4. I never understood why the personages of this saga have those long and weir hears, I always have had this doubt, do you know why?
