Andy Warhol's "Frankenstein 3D"

Otherwise known (presumably in non-3D showings) as "Andy Warhol's Frankenstein," this ad for "Frankenstein 3D" was clipped from the New York Times in March of 1974. It was retitled "Flesh For Frankenstein" for later releases.

It was often paired with Warhol's Dracula film, the ad for which I posted earlier here.

  1. I remember being 10 years old and asking my dad to take me to see this. When he turned me down, I then asked him to take me to see the double feature of Deliverance and Flesh Gordon. After turning me down on that one, he took me to see the Neptune Factor. Needless to say, we both were disappointed.

  2. Fred,

Well, to be fair, he did the right thing refusing to let you see any of those three films at the tender age of 10. But your're right, "The Neptune Factor" was bound to let you down no matter what else you wanted to see. You could have stayed home and put a toy sub in the fish tank to get the same effect!

At least your dad took you to see movies, my stepdad never did, and took pleasure in denying me the freedom to go on my own. The movie ads and monster mags were the closest I could get to them.

  3. thank goodness for VHS and DVD, eh?
although there's something to be said for the experience of waiting til something cool came on TV, waiting all week to see it and then being glued to your set and absorbing every second of the film, knowing it would be forever before it came on again! there, i said it!
